500K Volume Pot for Strat with Hot Rails?

I have a Standard Mexican Stratocaster and I am installing a Hot Rails pickup in the bridge position to be able to get more of a Metal crunch. The guitar tech said I should install a 500K volume pot. Do I really have to? I only play alone, in my bedroom, through a 15 watt solid state amp. Will I really notice?
