Xbox 360 headset, help needed?

my default one that came with my 360 literally got eaten by my Scottie puppy(families actually), he munched it good. So I have been cruising around the net, and a few of my gamer friends say i should get a pair of turtle breaches, but I don't think it is really worth the hundred dollars until my puppy is older, or until I can move out of my parents house, in a couple of months(I hope.) So I was looking at another default corded one, or the wireless one, anyways what is your opinion on this conundrum?
