I think he is probably going through something hard in his life and he needs someone to talk to. First off, you broke up because of what other people thought? I don't think that's right. I think you should break up, because you don't like eachother anymore. You shouldn't care what people thought. Were you happy with him? Ask yourself questions like that and be honest with yourself. I think you should call him rather then sending a message, because it's more personal and lets him know that you really care about him. Also, if you do call him ask him if he was happy with you and questions like that, so you can kinda tell if he is lying or not. You could also ask him to go somewhere with you and talk to him there. Oh and maybe the reason it said he was in a realtionship on facebook, was beause he wanted to be, or he wanted your attention, or maybe he didnt wanna seem lonley. You can never be sure until you ask him yourself, but talk to him in PERSON or over the phone! Hope this helped :)
