I just brewed my first batch of homebrew and was wondering if there is a quick way of telling if it was contaminated. I have a batch of brown ale in my secondary that I think is ready to bottle. The hydrometer reading has not changed over the past couple days so I believe it is done. It smells like beer but tastes much different any store bought brown ales I have had a bit weaker flavor. according to the hydrometer reading it is ~6% alcohol. Just want to be reured it is good before going through with the bottling.
